Komodo National Park fees for a boat trip: who pays, when, and what is extra
Updated 10 October 2026
Foreign visitors pay IDR 250,000 per person per day to enter the park. Indonesians pay IDR 50,000, or IDR 75,000 at weekends and on holidays. Tickets are bought online in your name and sit outside our fare. Ranger, drone and harbour charges come on top, and some of those figures are still unconfirmed.
The entry ticket, per person per day
The park ticket is a state levy set by Government Regulation 36 of 2024, which has applied to Komodo since 30 October 2024. Foreign visitors pay IDR 250,000 per person per day, whatever the day of the week. Indonesian citizens pay IDR 50,000 on weekdays and IDR 75,000 at weekends, on public holidays and on joint-leave days. The ticket covers trekking, ranger-led wildlife viewing and snorkelling, and the old separate snorkel ticket has gone.
Divers pay a surcharge on top, per diver per day, shown in the rate table. Vinca carries no dive gear, so that line only matters to guests who dive with another operator.
We checked these figures in October 2026 against the regulation as reported by the park authority and the national press. The tariff annex itself wasn't machine-readable when we looked, so the table cites those reports. A higher rate for foreigners has been under study since April 2026, with no amount or date announced. We quote the figure in force when your invoice is issued.
| International visitors | IDR 250,000 per person per day |
| Indonesian visitors | IDR 50,000 per person per day · IDR 75,000 weekends & holidays |
Paid separately in cash or e-ticket; ranger and pier levies are extra and can change. Regulation: PP 36/2024 · Verified 10 October 2026.
What the entry adds up to
The calculator works out the total for two, four and ten guests over one, two and three park days. Multiply by days inside the park, not nights on board: two foreign guests over two park days make four person-days at IDR 250,000 each.
The open question is how many park days a 3D2N counts as. The first two days are spent in the park proper, at Manta Point, Taka Makassar, Padar, Pink Beach and Komodo. Day three is a morning near Labuan Bajo and the run home, and one operator reports that a final morning-only day generally isn't counted. We haven't confirmed how the ticket office counts it for Vinca, so the written quote states the number of days, and you'll see it before you pay the deposit.
Until the quote says two, budget for three days of tickets, and treat it as a bonus if it comes in lower.

How the ticket is bought: SiOra, your names, the daily cap
Since February 2025, tickets have been sold online through the park's SiOra system. Payment is cashless, every visitor is registered by name and passport or ID number, and nothing is sold at the gate. We buy the tickets for you using the names and passport numbers you send us a week before sailing, so send them exactly as printed. Ask for the e-ticket or QR code in your name and take a screenshot, because signal fades once you leave Labuan Bajo. The park authority has reported middlemen who took people's money and never passed it on.
Since April 2026 there's been a cap of 1,000 visitors a day, covering Padar, Rinca, Komodo and 23 nearby dive sites across three time sessions; the reports we read don't make clear whether snorkellers and cruise guests all count towards it. April to October can fill up, so fix your date early. Tickets are bought against names and can't be refunded, even if the route changes.

| Park entry, Indonesian citizens | IDR 50,000 on weekdays; IDR 75,000 at weekends and on public holidays; per person per day |
| Daily visitor quota | A daily visitor cap has applied since 1 April 2026 at Padar, Rinca and Komodo islands and nearby dive sites, in time sessions. The figure has been revised during the year; your boat company checks the current cap when it registers you. |

Ranger, drone and harbour: the charges on top of the ticket
Ranger. Nobody walks on Komodo, Rinca or Padar without a ranger. The fee is charged per group of up to five guests, not per person, and a bigger group needs a second ranger. It isn't part of the regulation's tariff and the published figures don't agree, so we don't print one here. The desk will quote the current figure in writing.
Drone. Flying one in the park without a permit is illegal. The rate table shows the fee per drone per day, and you need a special entry permit arranged in advance through SiOra; one operator says at least seven days ahead, which we treat as unconfirmed. The open trip includes drone footage shot by our guide, but check with the desk whether the park's drone levy for that flight is covered before you assume it is.
Filming. Personal photos are free. A commercial shoot, such as a magazine job, an advert or a pre-wedding film, needs its own permit and fee.
Harbour and vessel. A small harbour or regional fee is sometimes added in Labuan Bajo, and we couldn't find a published tariff for it. The park also charges the boat itself a daily levy. Ask the desk to show both on your quote.
What our fare leaves out, and which figures to double-check
Our fare, from IDR 6,950,000 (≈ USD 426) per person on the open trip or from IDR 50,000,000 (≈ USD 3,067) for the whole boat, doesn't include park entry, ranger fees, drone permits, flights, hotels, alcohol or crew tips. We won't fold the fees into a bundle to look cheaper, so add the park line to any fare before you compare it with ours.
Confirmed in sources we could read: the entry ticket for foreign and Indonesian visitors, the drone rate, the commercial filming rates, online-only ticket sales and the visitor cap. Not yet confirmed: the ranger fee, the harbour levy, the lead time for a drone permit and the number of park days on a 3D2N. A higher rate for foreigners is also possible.
We're a charter desk, not the park office. If the park's published tariff differs from this page, the park is right, and we'll correct the page and its checked date. Ask the desk for the park line on your quote before you pay the 50 percent deposit.
FAQ
What is the Komodo park entry fee per day?
Under PP 36/2024 it's IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day, and IDR 50,000 per Indonesian citizen on weekdays or IDR 75,000 at weekends and on holidays. On a multi-day trip you pay for each day inside the park. A higher rate for foreigners is being considered, with no date set, so confirm the figure when you book.
Is the park fee in your fare, or on top?
On top. The ticket is per person per day, we buy it in your name, and it's invoiced separately from the fare of IDR 6,950,000 (≈ USD 426) per person or IDR 50,000,000 (≈ USD 3,067) for the boat. Tickets can't be refunded. The park also charges the boat a daily levy of its own, so ask the desk how that appears on your quote.
Why does the ranger fee have no price on this page?
Because it isn't in the regulation's tariff, and the sources we read disagree. It's charged per group of up to five guests, not per person, on top of the ticket of IDR 250,000. We'd rather leave a gap than print the wrong number, so the desk quotes the current amount in writing.
Is snorkelling charged separately in the park?
No. Since 30 October 2024, snorkelling has been included in the entry ticket of IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day, and the old separate snorkel ticket has gone. Some operators' pages still list one; you can ignore it. Divers pay a surcharge per diver per day, and Vinca carries no dive gear.
What happens if someone enters the park without a ticket?
According to the national press, entering without a ticket carries an administrative penalty of five times the tariff. With the ticket at IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day, the saving isn't worth the risk. Tickets are bought online in your name before the trip, and the e-ticket or QR code is what you show.
Can I film or photograph commercially in the park?
Personal photos are free. Commercial work, such as a magazine shoot, an advert or a pre-wedding film, needs a permit and its own fee, listed in the rate table. Drones need a permit arranged in advance through SiOra. If your trip involves paid shooting, tell the desk before you pay the 50 percent deposit.
