Komodo honeymoon cruise: the room with the bathtub

Updated 10 October 2026

A Komodo honeymoon on Vinca Deluxe Phinisi revolves around the Western Room: a double bed, a private balcony and a proper bathtub beside a sea-view window. The honeymoon package, at IDR 3,900,000 (≈ USD 239) per couple, adds a dressed bed, a bathtub set-up and dinner for two. On the open trip, a Western Room costs IDR 8,500,000 (≈ USD 521) per person.

The bathtub test, applied to a honeymoon

If a bath with the window open matters to you, book a Western Room. That's our bathtub test, and for most honeymooners it settles the cabin question in a sentence. The Western Rooms are on the main deck, with a double bed, a private balcony, an ensuite with a hot shower and a proper tub next to a sea-view window. They aren't the highest rooms on board, but they're the only ones with a bath.

Two things to know before you get carried away. The water comes from the boat's own tanks, so let the crew know when you'd like the tub filled rather than treating it as a tap that never runs dry. And the main deck has a moderate amount of movement. On a rolling afternoon a full tub is a bad idea, and the crew will tell you as much.

The other honeymoon choice is the Japanese Room on the deck above, with a balcony, big windows and a low tatami table, but no bath. It's the tub or the tatami; no room has both.

What the honeymoon package adds

The honeymoon package costs IDR 3,900,000 (≈ USD 239) per couple and covers three things: a dressed bed, a bathtub set-up and a romantic dinner for two. Since one of those is the bath, the package really belongs with a Western Room, and we'll point that out if you ask for it with a Japanese one.

You can also book a romantic beach dinner on its own. It starts at IDR 2,950,000 (≈ USD 181) per couple, with a smaller charge for each extra person. On a private 4D3N charter the beach dinner at Sebayur is already in the fare, so there's nothing to add.

The beach dinner is a table and umbrellas on the sand, with candles. Being outdoors, it can be moved back to the deck if there's wind or rain, and the captain makes that call on the evening.

  • Honeymoon package: IDR 3,900,000 (≈ USD 239) per couple (bed, bath, dinner).
  • Beach dinner on its own: from IDR 2,950,000 (≈ USD 181) per couple.
  • Birthday or anniversary decoration: IDR 2,000,000 (≈ USD 123).

Whole boat for two, or one cabin on a shared date

A private charter gives the two of you the bean bags on the sundeck, the long dining table, the lounge and a crew of 7. For a 3D2N the whole-boat price is IDR 100,000,000 (≈ USD 6,135) for up to five guests, and as a couple you pay all of it. That's an awful lot of boat for two, and it only makes sense if privacy is the whole point.

The open trip is the practical alternative. You get a Western Room to yourselves at IDR 8,500,000 (≈ USD 521) per person on the same 3D2N route, and share the table with the other guests. The current list has 122 start dates, mostly Mondays and Fridays, and the next is Monday, 12 October 2026. Not every Monday or Friday runs, so check your date before you book flights.

If you want a dinner with nobody else in earshot, the open trip won't give you that. Either charter, or add the beach dinner and accept that other guests will be somewhere on board.

What a honeymoon here won't include

Getting online at sea is hit and miss. The boat's Wi-Fi is a local hotspot off the crew's mobile signal, with no satellite link: it works near Labuan Bajo and in patches between islands, so warn your families before you board and expect to be out of reach most of the time. Most couples say that's the best part. A few find day two hard going, and it's better to know that when you book than on the second morning.

There are early starts. On the 2D1N, 3D2N and 4D3N routes, the Padar climb is at sunrise, which is 06:18 in July, and guests leave the boat about an hour before that. If your idea of a honeymoon is a lie-in, tell the guide the evening before that you're staying on board.

There's no jacuzzi, no spa and no stabiliser. The sea is calmest from April to June and from October to November. January and February are the roughest months, although that's when mantas peak.

Send us your dates and the room you have in mind, and the desk will tell you what's available.

FAQ

Can we have the bathtub room on the open trip, or only on a charter?

You can have it on both. The Western Room is a standard open-trip cabin at IDR 8,500,000 (≈ USD 521) per person, and the tub comes with the room, though you still share the decks and the table with other guests. The honeymoon package, at IDR 3,900,000 (≈ USD 239) per couple, can be added to either booking.

Is the honeymoon package worth adding to the room price?

It bundles a dressed bed, a bathtub set-up and dinner for two for IDR 3,900,000 (≈ USD 239) per couple, while a beach dinner on its own starts at IDR 2,950,000 (≈ USD 181). If you'd book the dinner anyway, the package is the cheaper way to do it; if you'd skip the dinner, skip the package too.

Will we be able to message family during the trip?

Only in patches. The boat's local Wi-Fi runs off mobile signal, with no satellite internet, so it works near Labuan Bajo, at the start and end of the 3D2N route, and here and there between islands. Tell people the day you board and the day you land, and plan to be out of reach in between.

Is January a bad month for a Komodo honeymoon?

January falls in the wet season, with heavy showers and the roughest seas of the year, although it's the best time for mantas. If your dates are fixed, take the Western Room on the main deck rather than a room on the upper deck, which moves most. The calm months are April to June and October to November. The 3D2N has two nights aboard, so plan on a motion tablet before the first.

Can the beach dinner be moved if it rains?

Yes. The beach dinner is outdoors, and on the evening the captain decides whether wind or rain means moving it to the deck. We can't promise the sand, but we can promise a table, candles and a crew of 7 working around the weather.
